Few days ago I was talking to an associate at the health club I just joined. (Never had the time when I was having a job.) We began having a conversation about our personal trainers. If you aren't familiar with the phrase, these are fitness experts who have been trained to design work-out routines based on personal strengths, needs and goals.
Either way, Rick said something that hit me right in the middle of my eyes. "I got so overwhelmed reading all the books and fitness magazines. Everyone has their own opinion of what rewards the best. I finally figured if I was going to strengthen my fitness, I possibly as well pick one professional, be attentive to them and put in action their program."
afterwards, as I was driving my sore body home, I was thinking about how appropriate Rick's response was to internet marketing. Everyone's a professional. (although people who were unable to sell their first eBook.) And there exist million programs, books, secrets, techniques and tactics that will do the job for you.
The problem is, you can very easily fall into what my favorite business school professor called, "Analysis Paralysis". That's where a lot of people are having difficulties. They continue reading, and it gets in the way of really work on something.

I was guilty of this, too. I must have bought several hundred dollars worth of books and courses until I saw what was working for me, with my own internet business.
Fortunately, the professional I decided to follow was, in hindsight, an outstanding choice. And by listening to his advice and listening to his ideas, I have created a couple of thriving income streams.
I'm not saying that my "guru" is the correct choice for everyone. The point is to select one or maybe a number of people you really respect, and model them. Certainly, make sure they are really successful in their own businesses first. But when you find someone you appreciate and who has style you like, listen to their tips and listen to what they recommend in their writings.
