Me and my personal iPhone are in a strong and committed relationship; and with a relationship comes love and care - so I wanted to care for her. This was the beginning of my quest to find a screen shield which ended with the Skinomi TechSkin.
You may feel that the above statement is a bit extreme, but stop and imagine for a moment. I bet you often leave the house without your partner, perhaps you go shopping separately or various directions to get to work - nevertheless how often would you prefer to leave home without your phone? Starting to get my point?
I did spend far too much time on line trying to find the best choice. So to save you folks out there doing the same thing I have decided to share both my conclusions and my results.
Firstly let me explain that I cannot bear the idea of going through all the products out there which I discarded, so I will generalise quite a bit and stick with the essential stuff.
I started looking at covers, bags along with other ways to protect the phone. However nice these are, I chose that they are fine if you are travelling or your phone is a work one which you always keep in your laptop bag. But if you are going to be answering your phone and using it all the time then they were really a bit of a nuisance. Do you really need to have to open a cover on your cell phone just to decide if you want to response the phone? By the time you have done that you may as well just answer the phone. The cover idea really didn't suit me, they all seemed to be just that bit to much hassle for someone quite as lazy as myself.
The next stop was screen covers. The quantity of these out there on the market is huge, some are simpler to find out about than others. But trust me, there are product reviews out there for all of them, you simply need to spend hours trawling the forums to find out the truth.
When choosing a cover you must consider; how well it fits, how easy it is to put on and the orange effect.
The fitting is easy to solve. Only purchase a skin if it is sold particularly for your make and model. Any cover which is not specific will probably not fit well.
How straightforward it is to put on. This was the most time consuming, luckily for me there are lots of geeks out there who detail exactly what they found and did with their fitting, it certainly saved me from some horrors.
The Skinomi, really caught my eye for several reasons. All the 'bad' reviews were written by individuals who could not get the cover smooth so ripped it out and went and bought a different cover. Certainly none of these people actually read the instructions or they would have discovered that you are supposed to leave the skin and the marks will come out over the next few days.
Finally, there seemed to be an integrity regarding the orange skin effect with the Skinomi TechSkin. The forums concurred that there was a slight effect, if you checked out it at a certain angle, in a certain light, when the phone was off. Well, when my phone is off, I don't star at her, so that was fine by me.
So my phone is now perfectly dressed in a Skinomi TechSkin.
